Albizia Environmental Conservation Camp

Albizia Camp is set on the Msinene Conservancy in the Hluhluwe area of Northern KwaZulu Natal. This 500 Acre conservancy is now a well-established conservation area providing habitat and an ecosystem for the many animals that occur there.

Our aim with the volunteer program here is to grow and maintain the wildlife and ecosystem on the conservancy. We have an ongoing program to monitor our species count, from small insects to big mammals around the reserve, through constant animal surveys by means of camera traps, small mammal traps and pitfall traps. We also keep track of the nocturnal animals like Leopard, Hippo, Aardvark, Hyaena and Genets.

Our days are filled with adventure as we also take part in the care and wellbeing of our rehabilitated animals that have come for rewilding and then release. Post-release monitoring then forms a critical part of the process helping us establish whether the animals have adapted and whether the whole process has been a success.

Our journey here is a once in a lifetime opportunity and we would like to share it with you as well as teaching you the importance of wildlife conservation here in South Africa.
